Founding attorney David Ostrander opened our bankruptcy law firm in 1994 after several years of practice in bankruptcy and commercial law as an associate attorney in Springfield. Today, he's the only lawyer in western Massachusetts certified in both Consumer Bankruptcy Law and Business Bankruptcy Law by the American Board of Certification. Since 1997, David Ostrander has also served as an assigned Chapter 7 Trustee for cases filed in Hampden, Hampshire, and Franklin counties.

David Ostrander is a 1976 magna cum laude graduate of the University of Massachusetts, and a 1989 cum laude graduate of the Western New England College School of Law, where he won the American Jurisprudence Award for academic excellence in Bankruptcy Law.

Among his professional affiliations are membership in the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Commercial Law League of America, the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees, and the Massachusetts Bar Association.

Attorney Denise Shear has concentrated her practice in bankruptcy since 2000. She's a summa cum laude graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College and an honors graduate of the Roger Williams University School of Law. She's certified in Consumer Bankruptcy Law by the American Board of Certification.

Attorney Elizabeth (Liz) Katz joined the office in June, 2008, after working for many years as an assistant district attorney. She is a graduate of the University of Vermont and Boston University School of Law.

While David Ostrander divides his practice between business bankruptcy, consumer bankruptcy, and debtor-creditor workouts, Denise Shear and Elizabeth Katz concentrate on representing debtors in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases in western and central Massachusetts.
